Today Tom aqnd I installed the hot water service water tank.
This was a bit of a bugger, and only just fit in.
The weekend before I had cut out chunks of rafters so the tank would fit in. I had also made up 3 steel beams to hold the weight of the tank. These beams span between the upstairs intermediate beams.
So, Tom and I struggled getting the tank up the stairs. Then we used some timber braces to sit the tank about 5 feet off the floor, directly under where it needs to go.
Then the master plan to levitate it was to use my new plaster lift. This ended up working really well, if a little nervously! Once the tank was levitated we could slide in the steel beams underneath. The beams have brackets welded to them so they reso on the tops of the intermediate beams.
In this photo you can just make out the tank and the three blue steel beams. As you can see I have since put in the ceiling joists.
Chris, my other plumber also came over and fitted the frame for the solar evacuated tubes. This frame will be holding 30 tubes. Even this is just a studio workshop, I decided to put a decent size hot water service in so we can run some hydronic radiators upstairs when its just a studio and there is no fireplace going downstairs.
